ADA Compliance
|
In 1990, the ‘Americans with Disabilities Act’
was passed. It refers to several fields, and is quite complex. The section that affects the placement of wall sconces specifies certain restrictions for all walkways, corridors and halls. ADA requires that all objects mounted on the wall between 27" and 80" high must not project more than 4" into the walkway. Most wall sconces used for corridors and halls need to be mounted within this “ADA zone,” and therefore cannot exceed 4" total depth. The challenge is to find attractive sconces that comply with this requirement. Arte de Mexico has responded to this need by designing specially made decorative sconces that you can use for these areas. |
